Our outdoor programs bring together dance and outdoor education with the goal of supporting the health and well-being of each participant and of the earth we live on.

Our programs take place on Abanaki, Pocumtuck, Nipmuc and Mohican land- in what is now known as GIll, MA – on a part-wild/part-cultivated homestead within walking distance of the Gill Elementary School.

We offer after school classes for elementary aged students during the school year and small scale week-long summer programs for 4 – 12 year-olds throughout the summer months.

Program Description:

This program brings together nature appreciation, social and emotional support and dance. We’ll begin in 40 minutes for children to arrive and decompress after school;  visiting with small farm animals, snacking and chatting with friends around the campfire, or taking some cozy alone time on the outdoor couch or in the hammock. We’ll gather at 4 to check-in as a group and orient our bodies to the land. We’ll practice a robust and active warm-up to get our blood moving and our bodies bouncing to the rhythm of familiar tunes and then move into a series of improvisational dance explorations focused on coming into relationship with the land. Our dance class will end with time for sharing and reflecting together. The last thirty minutes of our day together are optional; those who are ready to get home after a long day may leave at 5. Others are invited to stay and hang out with friends and animals, work on art projects or relax with a book until 5:30. No dance experience is necessary to participate! This site is not wheelchair accessible and does require that participants navigate unpaved terrain, some bugs and whatever weather is happening. We will meet rain or shine! Our dance space has a tarped roof as well as a screen tent for rain/bug protection.
