Great Falls Creative Movement offers a unique dance program for children ages 3 – 12 at The Movement Studio in downtown Turners Falls. Our program focuses on building social, emotional, spiritual and physical wellness through dance. At this time all students are required to wear masks during studio classes and classes are limited in size to 8 students.

For preschoolers and kindergartners we offer: How do you dance?”  an inclusive, community-based creative dance curriculum. Find out more about this program and register for fall classes here!

For elementary-aged children (1st – 6th grade) we offer:

Awesome Art in Motion*, a year-long dance program for kids. This program is above all a place for kids to come together to be themselves and to learn to love each other; with dance and the body as central to what we do together. Find out more about this program and register for our 2021/22 season here!

NEW THIS FALL: How do YOU dance?  for 1st – 3rd graders
Saturdays, 11:15 – 12:30pm. October 16th – December 18th (no class November 27th). Saturdays, 11:30 – 12:30pm. $80 – $145 sliding scale.

What IS dance? How do you like to dance and why? In this class,  we will explore and share our own dance styles and preferences, teaching each other our favorite movements, trying on each others’ moves and digging deep to remember where we learned these ways of dancing. All classes will include: An Opening and Closing circle; in which each student is acknowledged, welcomed, oriented to the class and appreciated. A Warm Up; a vigorous set up movements to wake up the brain and increase range of motion in the body. Dance explorations: Exercises in which students are asked to improvise or freestyle with a particular focus in mind. Skills Building; Learning and practicing new physical skills. And Dance Creation: Students craft and share dance movements generated from dance explorations and skills building.

The Movement Studio is located on the 2nd floor of The Brick House Community Resource Center, 24 3rd street, Turners Falls.
