  • Create and learn dance combinations, developing muscle memory and musicality

  • Learn how to create dances with beginnings, middles and ends.
  • Learn how give reflective feedback to other dancers
  • And, of course dance all out, however they want, because it just feels so good!

Contemporary Dance and Composition for 8 – 12 year-olds. This class builds on the creative dance techniques students have learned in previous classes. The class uses sequence-based and improvisational exercises to support pre-adolescent children to find themselves in mind, body and spirit, both alone and in a group. Equal focus is placed on building physical strength and coordination, exercising our creativity, and creating space and time for relaxation and connection. Dance with your Toddler!  A class for walking toddlers and their grown-ups.  This class will give you and your toddler the chance to breathe, stretch and move in ways you’ve never imagined!  movement-30

Siblings are welcome to join this class, as are three-year-old’s who would prefer to dance with their grown-up!

CLASS ACTIVITIES
All classes begin with stretching and warm-up exercises followed by guided improvisation using the basic steps: walking, running, galloping, hopping, rolling, crawling, turning, sliding and jumping.  Warm ups are followed with the introduction of a movement concept (For example: Shape, Level, or Rhythm).  Movement concepts are explored in large and small groups as well as through solo dances.  Classes for younger students use songs, props and stories to engage and explore movement concepts. Classes for older students incorporate contemporary dance technique and set choreography. All classes focus on the creation of improvisational dances.  Classes end with a guided relaxation.
