IMG_0196Great Falls Creative Movement leads residencies and workshops in elementary schools Franklin County and Southern Vermont. Residencies can range in length from one day to year-long, and can engage with one class or an entire school.

Thank you to the STARS Residencies program of the Massachusetts Cultural Council for granting us funding for Creative Dance residencies in areas schools for the fourth consecutive year!

Check out this video from our most recent residency at the Village School in Royalston, MA.

Creative Dance is routinely left out of school curriculum. Residencies are an amazing way to infuse the classroom with movement-based learning, body-based mindfulness practice, and physically expressed creativity.

art shows us how to move

So many children thrive when their bodies are in motion! During in-school dance classes we focus on learning to be respectful of and joyful in our own bodies as well as in relation to other bodies. The many classroom teachers I have worked with this year have shared an excitement in continuing to integrate creative dance into their classrooms themselves after the completion of our residency.

If you or your institution are interested in bringing quality movement education to the children you work with please contact Studio.movement@gmail.com or 413 834-4644. Funding often provided for creative dance residencies by the local and state cultural councils as well as by school PTO’s.
